It happens in an instant. A catastrophic change that brings about the collapse of your own little world and leaves you stranded. The freeze in time when you realise that everything around you has gone to shit.
What was it for me? A rainstorm.

Now I'm not normally the kind to be upset by a little wet weather. I am, after all, your typical ex-military mercenary, realising after leaving the army that a normal life could simply not captivate my interests. So at the age of 27 I began hiring myself out as a 'private security contractor' and with my impressive service record it wasn't long before I was snapped up by a research company and shipped out to their facility on Antipodes island, 500KM from New Zealand. The facility was built a small concrete square surrounded by chain-link electric fence. Every week, a Chinook helicopter would arrive, bringing with it several peculiar stainless-steel containers. It would land on the roof of the research building (forbidden, of course, to us grunts) and then disappear into the horizon. I was reasonably curious as to what the mysterious crates held, but had long since realised that this wasn't the place where questions were asked.

Aside from the research building, there were two low built barracks where the other mercs lived. Finally there was a vehicle depot containing a pair of land rovers and a small guardhouse next to the gate. An unpaved dirt road connected this compound with compound B, on the other side of the island. If possible, compound B was locked down even tighter than my current home- I had never even seen it.

It would seem to be an easy assignment. I was contented to stand, or more likely sit, guard each day, rifle in hand, watching the sun play it's rays across the Pacific ocean. Even when in the rain, all I had to do was throw a warm coat around my shoulders.

One Tuesday, it was absolutely tipping. This wasn't just a couple of grey clouds and a drizzle of water. The entire sky had been painted the colour of steel, and an endless sheet of rain assaulted the ground with surprising ferocity.

I was in the process of thanking my stars that I wasn't one of the unlucky few that had to be out in that mess when I heard the faint whooshing of rotor blades. Surely they wouldn't have attempted a delivery in these conditions?
I rushed to the window. Sure enough, there was the lumpy outline of the Chinook, chopping it's way through the storm. It drew level with the research building just as a particularly strong gust of Ocean wind rushed across the island.

The helicopter was caught broadside, and blown across the roof of the research building. One of the landing wheels caught on the roof's hand railings, which refused to budge to the helicopter. The wheel was similarly stubborn. This resulted in the helicopter slamming it's side into the roof, snapping off it's dual rotors. The wheel slipped free.

I could sense what was about to happen next before I heard it. Something bad is about to happen. Then my ears were hit by a grinding screech of tortured metal, and the body of the helicopter rolled off of the building, crushed a section of fence, and lay still.

26th March: Decided I'm going to drop Computing and carry on History, English and Media at A2.

27th March: Ate KFC for the first time in months. Delicious.

28th March: Lol, I'm going on a double date. Fun fun.------- Cancelled. -_-

29th March: Hung around town.

30th March: Fuck, I feel ill. And just to top it off, I have no Reading ticket.

31st March: Nerdy day, yay! RE3, UT3, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R for £17 total.

1st April: Boring boring day.

2nd April: Yeah, Nemesis still makes me poo my pants.

3rd April: yay, my buddies are round my house :3

4th April: went out for the night with Ted. It was fun shit, I tells ya.

5th April: Being this tired isn't legal. ------ Lol, went to sleep at like, 4PM. Just woke up at half 2 in the morning. I'm 100% awake now >:C

6th April: Counter Strike does not count as a productive day.

7th April: I wish I went out more.

8th April: Went to watch 'monsters vs aliens' in 3D with Ted and her nephews.

9th April: Went out with 'the guys'. Splinter is quite a good movie.

10th April: Watched Fast and Furious. Lol.

11th April: Watched The boat that rocked with Ted.

12 April: N/A

13th April: Um... Mowed the lawn. The LITERAL lawn.

14th April: Went to the part to meet new people and when I got there they all started drinking alcopops... Next to kids. How embarrasing. Also note I was the first one to have a 're-mod sanjay' sig.

15th April: Nothing lol.

16th April: I um.. Walked the dog. That's it.

17th April: Lolwut my grandparents just turned up.

18th April: Ted and another couple came over. Forgot my catholic grandparents were here until I heard them through a wall. D:

19th April: Nothing really. Got ready for college and shit, did some work.

20th April: First day back at college wasn't that bad ^_^

21st-23rd April: Nothing special, just college.

24th April: Went to friend's barbecue. Got wankered, ruined other friend's garden, and woke up at another friend's.

25th April: Going out to band night then back to friend's with Ted.

27th April-1st May: Boring, uneventful college.

2nd May: saw X-men origins. Wasn't bad. Brought Ted back here. It was cold.

3rd May: Spent quite a few hours sleeping.

4th-8th May: Shitty College.

9th May: Brother's wedding.

10th May: Cars are awful. I never want to get in a car again.

11th May: Had a computing exam. Was well easy. Finished with computing forever now.

12th + 13th May: Just lessons.

14th May: Last day of college... Broke up for study leave.

15th May: Did nothing except play fallout really.

16th-19th May: Revised for my English exam.

20th May: Sat my English exam, which was an AWFUL experience.

21st May: Another day of... Nothing. Oh, I decided that 'PENIS' in block impact capitals was a bit of a silly user page picture so made a new one.

22nd May: Can't remember lol.

23rd May: Brought Ted here.

24th May: Stayed in bed with Ted until 5PM. Went back to hers for barbecued food.

25th/26th May: Nothing.

27th-31st May: Saw Ted and friends, had empty house. That's about it.

1st June: Media exam. That was piss easy.

2nd June: History exam. Okay... That was a little harder.

Move along.

Edit: It's my birthday on the 7th March. Fuck, I'm going to be banned for it.

And I promise I'll love you back.
